Transformer Coil Drying Compaction Device

Constant pressure drying and compaction device for precise coil compression, high-temperature resistance, and efficient transformer production.

Product Introduction

The Transformer Coil Drying Compaction Device is designed to apply continuous axial pressure to transformer coils during cold-state pre-compression and oven drying. By compensating for uneven axial shrinkage as moisture is removed from the insulation, the device helps prevent insulation components from loosening or falling out. It also helps the dried coil reach the specified mechanical height while keeping the upper and lower end faces parallel, supporting consistent coil dimensions and structural stability.

Main Features of the Coil Drying Compaction Device

  • High-temperature hydraulic cylinders. The cylinders are designed to remain under load inside the drying oven at temperatures up to 130 °C.
  • High-temperature hydraulic circuit. Flame-retardant hydraulic oil, metal hoses and quick-change couplings support connection and operation in the drying environment.
  • 80-400 ton compression range. The available force range supports different transformer coil diameters, insulation structures and approved drying processes.
  • 1,200-3,000 mm pressure discs. High-strength circular discs spread the axial load over the coil end face and can be configured for a wide coil-size range.
  • Adjustable compression height. Pull rods and locking rings allow the working height to be set for different coil axial dimensions.
  • Hydraulic fault alarm. The system sends an alarm and indication signal if a hose ruptures or a joint develops an oil leak.
  • Reserved oil passage. The reserved circuit allows the device to be used for coil arrangement and pre-compaction before the drying cycle.

Applications

  • Transformer coil drying processes that require continuous axial compression inside the oven.
  • Cold-state pre-compression before the coil enters the drying cycle.
  • Coils requiring controlled final mechanical height and parallel upper and lower end faces.
  • Transformer production lines processing different coil diameters within the selected pressure-disc range.
  • Coil arrangement and pre-compaction using the reserved hydraulic oil passage.

How to Select the Right Coil Drying Compaction Device

Selection should be based on the complete coil and drying-process envelope, not on compression force alone. Provide the following information for configuration and quotation:

  • Coil outside diameter, inside diameter, axial height and total weight.
  • Required mechanical height after drying and permitted dimensional tolerance.
  • Coil insulation structure and expected axial shrinkage.
  • Required compression force or approved pressure curve.
  • Drying temperature, drying time and oven clear dimensions.
  • Number of coils processed in each batch and required pressure-disc quantity.
  • Hydraulic connection requirements, workshop handling method and safety standard.
  • Required documentation, inspection items and factory acceptance criteria.

FAQ

  1. Why is constant axial pressure needed during transformer coil drying?

Transformer insulation contracts as moisture is removed. Maintaining axial load helps control the final coil height, retain insulation components and keep the two end faces parallel.

  1. Can the hydraulic cylinders remain inside the drying oven?

Yes. The cylinders are designed to work under load inside the drying oven at temperatures up to 130 °C.

  1. What compression-force range is available?

The equipment can be configured from 80 to 400 tons. Final selection depends on coil diameter, insulation structure and the approved drying process.

  1. What pressure-disc diameters are available?

High-strength pressure discs are available from 1,200 to 3,000 mm in diameter.

  1. How is the compression height adjusted?

The working height is adjusted through the pull-rod shaft and locking-ring arrangement before the hydraulic load is applied.

  1. What happens if a hydraulic hose ruptures or a joint leaks?

The monitoring system sends an alarm and indication signal so the operator can stop the process and inspect the hydraulic circuit.

  1. Can the device be used before oven drying?

Yes. The reserved oil passage allows it to be used for coil arrangement and cold-state pre-compaction.

  1. Is this equipment the same as a transformer coil press machine?

No. This device remains with the coil during high-temperature drying. A transformer coil press is a dedicated pressing workstation used mainly before drying or assembly.

  1. What information is required for a quotation?

Provide the coil drawing, dimensions, weight, final-height requirement, drying temperature, compression force, oven dimensions, batch quantity and acceptance requirements.
